Supreme Court resumed hearing of Rental power case: High officials  involved: Chief JusticeYesterday, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court resumed the hearing of the rental power plants (RPPs) case under the leadership of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Pakistan’s Minister for Water & Power.Afterward the case took a new direction when an assistant director of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Kamran Faisal, who was investigating the RPPs scam, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his official residence at Federal Lodges on 18th January, 2013 in mystifying conditions.
The members of Faisal’s family and some colleagues were not satisfied with the investigation of NAB. They requested a judicial inquiry of the tragic incident.
While hearing the RPPs case on Wednesday, The Supreme Court took suo motu notice of the death of the National Accountability bureau officer, and ordered a separate bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, to hear the case from Thursday (today).
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked,
“It’s hard to say whether it was Kamran Faisal’s funeral or NAB’s.”
Chief justice during the hearing of the rental power plants (RPPs) case said that high officials and political personalities are involved in the case. According to the statement issued by SC it is the responsibility of the state to provide protection to those who do their duty with heart and soul. The apex court also rejected a petition requesting the court to stop hearing the RPPs case. More Detail
