Pakistani Parliamentary Panel calls for a Ban On Ads with Indian Celebrities

The Pakistani Parliamentary Panel has claimed for a ban on commercials with Indian superstars. At the meeting attended by Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, a Parlimentry Panel said that there should be a complete ban on the commercial with Indian celebrities in Pakistan. In Pakistan the trend of signing Indian stars in advertisements is increasing day by day. By keeping this view in mind, the Standing Committee for
Information and Broadcasting of the National Assembly or the lower house of parliament has announced a ban on Pakistani commercials with Indian celebrities.
Furthermore, the panel decided that all female news anchors  have to wear scarves and dupattas.
According to Qamar Zaman Kaira,
“Pakistan had conveyed to the Indian government at many forums that it is allowing the screening of Indian channels and films, but the move had not been reciprocated by India. Pakistan is a responsible country and due to this strategy, relations with India had improved. The whole country is facing terrorism and everyone would have to fight this mindset with unity.”
Kaira said that the issue was in court and it would be better to wait for the judiciary’s decision. The committee members are also of the view that the Pakistani culture and traditions should be promoted in the country and Information Minister consented their view.
It would be also worth mentioning here that during the hearing of the case Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhary  had himself objected to a hair removing cream ad featuring Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif. He said such kind of commercials could not be watched by families.More
